You can run an up-to-date version of Debian for an m68k machine, although it is not an official build. ![]() You can still after all get a Linux distro (really old version of Debian) for the m68k that will probably run on the Classic.Īs for the G3 Macs, just put DebianPPC on them or something, Ubuntu is too much. You can't seriously expect to run any sort of Ubuntu on an m68k, and by ripping out the CPU you defeat the purpose of having the Classic. How much new hardware will you be putting in the Classic!? It's becoming a nicely hacked piece of work! Oh yeah, speaking of DSL, I'm currently doing some mods to my garage PC which I'll be posting about in a day or two with pics. I also think that the DSL developers should make a smaller version of DSL without all the included apps since they can be installed from the MyDSL repos anyway. You should definately see if you can upgrade the 64M to something a little larger. When I was prompted to install the bootloader, I mounted the HD that I was installing DSL on, eliminated the bloat (firefox, xmms, Ted, etc) and then proceeded to install the bootloader, which went without a hitch. DSL requires 200M of hard drive space to install. However, there were problems that I had to overcome. ![]() I did some playing with DSL on the weekend and installed it onto a 128M hard drive. I know I'm going to have to install to the 64MB flash memory, but not quite sure how to get it there. Any idea how? The DSL site doesn't really tell a lot on how to install to anything but a hard drive, and unfortunately the winterm doesn't have an HDD in it.
